Cheadle East and Cheadle Hulme North

David was first elected in 2018, then becoming the first Labour councillor in Cheadle for over 50 years.

Since then, he’s held multiple roles on the council, including Cabinet Member for Economy and Regeneration, which helped see the huge redevelopment of Stockport town centre. He was also leader of Stockport Labour Group from May 2023-May 2025.

He is currently chair of the council’s Corporate, Resource Management and Governance Scrutiny Committee.
