Councillor Yvonne Guariento
Born in Heaton Moor, I have lived most of my life in Cheadle and went to school in Manchester, followed by London University where I did a degree in Modern Languages and Manchester University where I did postgraduate courses.
I was a teacher in secondary education for 30+ years and Deputy Head and Acting Head at North Chadderton School in Oldham.
I have been an active campaigner for Labour over many years. I have been a volunteer at Chelwood Foodbank, Refugee Action, Stockport Credit Union and Arc (Art for vulnerable adults).
I have been a school governor since 1996, at Bridgehall Primary and St Mary’s, Reddish, where I am Chair.
I was a Labour councillor for Reddish South ward (2016 -21) and am now councillor for Cheadle East and Cheadle Hulme North since May 2023. I am Chair of Cheadle Area Committee.
I was a member of the GMCA Scrutiny Committee 2016-18.
I live with my husband, Keith, a retired engineer, and two cats, near to my two sons and baby grandson, born in July 2023. My hobbies are gardening, reading and learning Italian at Cheadle College.
